Alternating: rhythms and patterns can be created in several ways. One way is to introduce a second beat or motif. Another is to make a change in the placement of the original beat or motif.
Random

Random: a motif in no apparent order, with no regular spaces in between, creates a random rhythm.

Progressive

Progressive: there is a change in the beat each time it is repeated. The change is a steady one. Each time the beat appears slightly different.
